The play I have selected is Merchant of Venice. This play is about getting revenge on someone who has wronged someone else in the values of borrowing money. The Jew is picked on a lot. This was a common opinion back in Shakespeare's time period. Jews were often hated and picked on. This is still relevant today because there is still hatred against some religions more than others. People are still very judgmental and hurtful towards others.

The play I picked is Julius Caesar. This play is one of most interesting plays that’s Shakespeare made. What I know about this play is that Julius Caesar gets killed but I don’t know how . What I think this play say about the world is that many people don’t want to be lead by a great man like Julius Ceasar

I chose The Taming of the Shrew because it seemed like a good read. I knew nothing prior to picking my play. I know now that it is about a wife being tamed basically. She was horrible but Patrichiao fixes her in a sense. This play is very modern relevant from what i know so far. It is about the two getting into an argument and keep fighting about it. This play tells the real story of life after the wedding. It lets you know what you are getting in to.

The play that i picked was midsummer nights dream. This play has to do with a girl falling in love with a boy she loses him and try's to get him back with the help of a fairy . The story takes place in the woods by Athens and has to do with the duke of Theseus and Hippolytus. This play doesnt really relate to modern life beause there is no fairys. But love tragedies still happen in today's life.

The play I chose was The Merchant of Venice. I chose this play because it seems familiar and I may have read the book but I'm not sure. I know that Shakespeare is one of the most famous writers of all. Shakespeare is still relevant today and is very popular. I know that the play I picked is about a feud between a Jewish moneylender and a Christian merchant that doesn't pay the moneylender back. This play is supposed to be a comedy but I feel like it's more of a tragedy. I believe The Merchant of Venice is for modern relevancy because that same scenario happens frequently today. Many people can be stuck in the same situation. The Jewish moneylender makes a deal with the merchant with something about a pound of flesh. This seems quite dark and morbid. I really don't know how this play is considered a comedy. I don't find any part of the summary funny.

The play I choose is Twelfth Night. I choose Twelfth Night because it seems shorter and easier than other plays. Since even Shakespeare passed about 400 years. He is still relevant today. Because he is considered to be the greatest ever dramatist, prose writer. From his plays, it shows his rich language, and complex characters. I like comedy book, I think the book will be interesting to read.

I've chosen the play "The Merchant of Venice." I chose it because I recall reading it last year in 10th grade. I also chose it because although I did read it in 10th grade, I actually didn't remember the plot at all until I did a recap with my research. What I now know is that this play is not one that conforms to Shakespeare's more traditional genres. The play also bares the heavy question about whether or not Shakespeare was anti-Semitic. The themes of "The Merchant of Venice" are still relevant today, especially regarding race. The play gives a bit of reflection as to the behavior of the people right now during this "modern" age, where everyone is supposed to be so clever... It all makes it a bit ironic.

I chose Twelfth Night. The reason why I chose this is because the people in my theatre class will not be quiet about it. It talks about the tragity that fell on this girl which I'm sure at least one person can relate to. It also has a love triangle, which can happen at any moment. I will be completely honest when I say I knew next to nothing about this play when I chose it. But now that I read it, I can finally understand what everyone keeps saying!

We relate to hamlet in a way that is not captured by modern society. The play has to be read and seen in order to be comprehended and accepted by the modern society. We study this play because it shows emotion of feelings and the way of life in the mid 1500’s. I chose hamlet for a couple reasons. The first being that ive already read it before this assignment. Another reason is that its raw emotion and feelings. I already knew the conflicts and just basically the whole plot of the book so it helped me understand it even more by reading the book again. Its for modern relevancy because it show how greedy people are and that’s just natural and will never change because there’s no such thing of a utopia/perfect world.

For this Unit, I have decided to reread the play Julius Caesar. I chose to reread Julius Caesar because I feel like I didn't really understand it it last year. I feel like I can really get into it on my own and just really dissect it, unlike last year when I wouldn't pay attention. I already know that Julius Caesar does, along with all the other main characters. I also know that Shakespeare is an amazing play writer and poet. I feel like Shakespeare's writings are amazing and definitely can be used in situations today. I read an article that relates to the play I chose and it is almost identical and the article was written in 2007.

I picked Othello as my play because the show of control interested me. The book is about jealously. A male jealous of a job makes a man jealous of his wife. The male uses the mans trust in him to trick the man into believing his wife is cheating. The man ends up killing his wife and then killing himself in guilt. The male ends up in custody to be delt with vowing a life of silence.

We can relate this story to the modern age by the Roman Empire’s army. The Romans were scattered around the world, even in the Mediterranean countries. The US army travel across the world, there are some stationed in the Middle East. Just like how the Roman Army are stationed in the Middle East, south lands of Europe, and northern lands of Africa. One of the reasons we study this play today is because to learn about how human drama, philosophy, figurative words, and characteristics in government were used back then and how we use them today. I chose Julius Caesar because I adore history, learning how the ancient romans interact with each other while experiencing intense emotion through drama and gaining knowledge on how their political systems were back then. I admire the Roman army, how powerful and skillful they were during combat. Building suspense in a story planning to kill a future emperor while the assassin looks to form an alliance with other people for the big plan can be really intriguing. What I know about my play is it takes place in an autocratic government with some kind of republic to it to run the country. Antony has been put a target on his life because he showed loyalty towards Julius. Willam plans plays that involve love, marriage, death, mourning, guilt, and other emotional characteristics in characters and the problems in life. I agree with Shakespeare’s relevency because he expresses human nature connecting with the hearts of the good and evil doers of this earth. How we see society and it’s blessings and curses, his plays interpret something similar in today’s society.

I chose the book Othello. I chose this book because it looked like one of the most serious ones and most interesting. From the introduction I know this treats about racism and jealousy for two men fighting for a positon in the military. I believe Shakespeare is still relevant I believe he is still relevant because many of the problems he writes about still oppress this world. For example racism in the play Othello, I believe there are still some people who are still racists and still some places that are racists. I also beleive Shakespeare is still relevant because of the school system.

I chose the play A Midsummer's Night Dream. I chose the play because I have read it before and loved it. Shakespeare has written many iconic plays. One of the most well-known is Romeo and Juliet, which we all have read. Shakespeare is still relevant today. Many tropes in modern TV and movies are still taken from his books. For example the movie "Gnomeo and Juliet" Was a modern hit that took off from the Romeo and Juliet story.

I chose Midsummer Night's dream as my play. I chose it randomly. The play is about people falling in love with the wrong people because of fairy magic, but eventually everyone is in love with the right person. I believe the play is still relevant because the main theme is love, and love is the same no matter the era.

The play I chose was Julius Caesar. The reason why I chose this play is because it seemed very interesting. Julius Caesar was a Roman general and statesman. The play was performed by William Shakespeare in 1599. William Shakespeare was an English playwright, poet, and actor. I think it can benefit people in this day and age because it shows that Mr. Caesars friend tries to assassinate him. It shows that not all friendships can last especially ones that include death.

I picked The Merchant of Venice because it looked like a good play. Not to mention it takes place in Italy. What I know about my play so far is that there are four main characters. Those characters are Shylock, Portia, Antonio, and Bussanio. Shylock and Antionio have some drama and it involves Portia. What I know about Shakespeare is that he was born in England, wrote 37 plays, and wrote 154 sonnets. We should read and learn about Shakespeare more often. It's so interesting how back in the days they preform in a stage that isn't fancy but basic and modern. But, the building will be a couple stories high.

In my opinion I believe Shakespeare is still relevant for many reasons. One major reason is because he's made such great and big poems/sonnets which became more popular over the time and even have their own movies. Romeo and Juliet is one of the most popular ones people know him by, everyone loves Romeo and Juliet and the plot that goes with it. Shakespeare really knows how to draw a readers attention and even make up his own words. He has so many famous phrases that everyone still uses till this say that don't even know Shakespeare made. Shakespeare is still known till this day because people are always talking about him and he really made a big impact for people who make books or poems. He was one of the best writers that there's been and has made a lot of different plots to get us interested in his books.

The Tragedy of Julius Caesar is a history play and tragedy by William Shakespeare first performed in 1599. Although the play is named Julius Caesar, Brutus speaks more than four times as many lines as the title character, and the central psychological drama of the play focuses on Brutus. Brutus joins a conspiracy led by Cassius to murder Julius Caesar, to prevent Caesar becoming a tyrant. His play Julius Caesar is undoubtedly still relevant to today. This is proven by the modern day events that mirror his play. Shakespeare’s work has lasted over four hundred years and still been relevant and it’s relevancy will most likely out live everything we know.

I think it's very difficult for influence to die out, since one piece of art influences another, and THAT art influences more art, and so on. I think Shakespeare's art is very influential and therefore relevant. Many of the themes discussed in his plays seem outdated to me, but they still feel real. The emotions projected feel like real human emotions, and many (I assume) come from his own life. I think they are always relevant, as humans can relate to emotion and love.

I believe Shakespeare's plays are still relevant to this day because it shows literature from a different time period. It is interesting how they would word their plays to express feelings and tell stories. Shakespeare's play had many themes which are timeless, and most of them can be used to this day. He would express the value of human life in his plays which can make it relatable to this day.

The play the whole class picked was the merchant of Venice. The only reason we picked this play was because we had no choice but i still think it will be a good play. One thing I already know about this play is that it is a Italian romance but its more on the darker side, like most of Shakespeare’s plays. In this play they focus on things like mercy and revenge. I personally think all of Shakespeares plays have a good amount of modern relevancy. The lessons that many of these characters learn all have a part to do with this.

I believe that Shakespear helps us see the world for how it was. Shakespeare is like totally different language. Even though it sounds a bit like English a bit its very far from English. I think Shakespeare was heavily recognized by Romeo and Juliet. Even thought it wasn't meant to be true. It felt like a true love story. The tragic ending sadly can be similar to peoples love story's. Their parents force them to end relationships just by looking at the boyfriend. They didn't even bother to look at him they just judged.
