Someone who has "The courage of his or her convictions" not only has strong beliefs but also is willing to stand behind them. The authors in this unit fit that description. Maya Angelou says, ""I was a mute from the time I was seven and a half until I was almost 13. I didn't speak. I had voice, but I refused to use it." Think of some issues a person your age might want to speak out about but could find hard to address. What are the advantages of speaking out about each issue, as well as the disadvantages or obstacles to speaking out? Then decide which of these issues you feel particularly strongly about and explain why it's important to you. Share your answer in 7-10 sentences.
