Think of a very early childhood memory that stands out vividly in your mind as a moment of peak emotion. Describe the chronology of the moment (beginning, middle, end), the facts or 5Ws (who what when where why how), imagery (5 senses), quotes / dialogue, and your subjective feelings. Bring the moment to life in a short 7-10 sentence creative writing paragraph. Conclude by analyzing the moment from a now grown up perspective. How are your impressions of that moment different now that you can look back on it as a teenager?

When I was about 7 years old my dog got sick, he was crashing into things and we often found him bloody. A couple years ago i was told why he was sick. we used to live next to drug addicts and they would throw drugs over the fence and my dog would end up eating it. I was told that we were going to take him to the vet, at the time I was not aware that my parents were gonna take him to be put down. When we arrived my brother told me that we were gonna leave my dog at the vet for a couple of weeks. For a couple of months i asked when we were gonna go get my dog back and my parents never answered me. However a couple years later my parents forgot that they lied and they told me that we put him down.

When i was about 6 years old, it was i think June in 2003/2004, i had broke my arm. I had fell off my bed and broke my right arm. It was the middle of the night and i had woken my parents from my screaming and crying. I was just an emotional wreck. The last thing i remembered before going into surgery was a doctor saying something really mean. By the time i got out i was in pain and wasn't able to move it (of course), and i had stayed there for two nights and had went back the next night and my dad was driving me and him home and suddenly there was this crash of lightning that had almost hit the truck and i was terrified that i went into shock, and my dad didn't know what to do but to put me to bed. This is different now that i look back at it as a teenager i realize that was a wake up call and to be more open minded on things even though i was just 6 years old -_-

When I was about 6 or 7 I was almost kidnapped. One day me and my friend( who was older) decided to walk to the street that was by my house. When we were walking she noticed that there was a creepy guy starring at us and driving slow. While we walking through the store's parking lot she noticed the same car was parked. While we were walking past it the guy in the car started yelling at us to get out attention. When we turned around he started saying stuff like "do you want some candy? Come here and I'll give you some" and "come here I want to show you something". When we said no he got out his car and started walking towards us saying we're gonna get in the car if we like in it or not. As soon as he said that we started yelling and running to two ladies we saw and told them what happened. They called the cops and are parents and after that I've never liked walking anywhere. That was one of the most scariest things that has ever happened to me in my life.

When I was around 6 years old mom had my little brother. He was born with a heart defect and he needed heart surgery almost immediately. His aortic valve was replaced with a pig valve because it was leaking a lot of fluid. My brother died on the table and they had to shock him 3 or 4 times before his heart started beating again. At first I didn't know what was going on, just that my baby brother was very sick. My mom was crying so much and I was trying to comfort her. When the doctors came in and told us what happened I started crying. I remember going into a little room with my aunt and seeing my brother laying in a little bed cart. He was so small and I started crying again. Looking back at that now I see what an emotional day that had been. Everyone was sad and it took a toll on my emotions as well. I think it's different for me now because I know that my brother survived and he is doing really well with his heart. So I don't get emotional or sad whenever I think about it.

At the age of 8, a small, messy, young boy wandered off into a birthday party with his two parents and sister. It was mid-evening, the sun was just about to go down, as all the people surrounded a piñata and sang “Happy Birthday” to another younger boy. It was the boys turn to take a swing at the piñata, he wiped his frosting filled hands and all was clean, one swing and then a miss. Once he was on his 5th swing, the piñata came swinging back at him with a mighty force. The boy was hit in the face by the object & he hit the ground and thus began to cry tears as forceful as the Niagara Falls. The mother ran towards her son and began to comfort him, as if he was a newborn. And that was the time of how I got hit by a piñata. The End.

My younger sister Lara, had 2 seizures as a baby. The doctors didn't understand the cause (which is typical). But both times these seizures occurred, she was admitted to the ER. I only remember one of her seizures, though it is a distant memory, I am still going to type about it.

When I was 7 or 8 I got a nail stuck in my foot. It hurt really bad. I was playing hide n' go seek with my cousin and siblings at my grandmas house. I had hidden in my papas garage behind some stuff. After a couple seconds of hiding in there we all heard the ice cream truck. I was all of my cousins and siblings running to go get ice cream and decided to race out of the garage. It was kind of dark to i could not see where I was stepping. I then happened to trip over a piece of wood. It didn't start hurting until after I had seen what the wood had done to me. I was looking at an old piece of wood with a rusty nail embedded into the top of my foot right by my ankle. It scared me. My older cousin heard my crying and came out to see what happened. He proceeded to pull the nail out and then carried me to the living room of my grandmas house. My dad put my brothers sock on me to cover it up. What happened next made me mad. My brother was complaining to me, while I was in pain, to take his sock off because I was "bloodying" it. I didn't talk to him for the rest of the day. Any way this is how I got a nail in my foot.

When I was around 6-7 I almost broke my leg and almost cracked my head open. I went over to my friends house after some party and I was really excited because I was never allowed at his house. He had tricycles so me and him went in the backyard to ride them. We were riding around the pool, being extra cautious because there was no water in the pool. As we were going around a corner, his wheel hit mine and I ended up falling in the deep-end of an empty pool. After that I wasn't able to walk and his dad had to carry me to my house so i'm kinda surprised I didn't injure myself.

One time when I was younger I was on a swing minding my business and I accidentally bit my lower lip, it was not a fun time it was pretty painful at the time. I don't remember what exactly where i was or what i was attempting to do but i remember that. I have a scar below my lip to this day. I just use it as a reminder to have fun but be safe while doing it.

I remember when I was 5 I went to the park with my aunt. I would love to go to the tip top of the big toy. Yo Had to walk on top the monkey bars. Then grap the edge of the of the slide then pull your self up then stand on the edge of the slide grab the roof and your at the top. But when I was standing on the edge of the slide I slip cause I had new shoes that were slippery and broke my leg.

When I was about 5 years old I broke my left arm. I was playing at the park I went on the slides then the swings I was having alot of fun. When I saw the monkeybars I wanted to try them so bad and they were really big monkeybars. As I went on the monkeybars I was taking deep breathes and then I went for it I thought it would be cool to skip a few bars so as I got to the 4th bar I started skipping but I never done it before. When I skipped the bar I missed it and I fell when I fell I heard something crack I thought it was my back but , as I got up I realized that I couldn't move my left arm and when I told my mom she told me that I had broken it. I started to cry because the pain was really bad well for me it was. Then my mom drove me to the hospital and I went into the ER and the last thing I remembered was that the doctor told me that they are going to put me to sleep. After that i couldn't move my arm ( obviously ) I was in pain I stayed there for about 2 or 3 days I'm not sure but then I went home and I don't really remembered what happened next but yea. That was the time I broke my left arm.

When I was around 8 I had a hamster named Jack, who was actually a lot of trouble. This little dude was like Houdini, but the size of an apple. He would escape from his cage almost every night somehow. He climbed into my parents bed once, which is strange because it was like a foot off the ground. Another time he hid in a hole in the kitchen for seven hours and refused to come out. His highlight though was when he made a nest in the broiler and cause the entire oven to start smoking. I actually raced him once against other hamsters and he got third place.

One summer night, we sat around the campfire roasting marshmallows and starburst candies (yes, its delicious). The fire was crackling and crickets were chirping. I should have stuck with the marshmallows, because I dropped a bubbling pink starburst, fresh out of the fire, onto my hand. It instantly melted my skin and burned really badly. My hand blistered almost immediately, and I still have the scar. I got revenge though - I still ate it!

When I was about 6 years old my parents got me a new puppy. I was the happiest boy in the world at the time. They got me this puppy for a birthday present. After about 4 months of having the puppy my parents started to notice a big bump on his head. My parents ended up taking my puppy to the vet and he had a tumor in his head. So they came back from the vet without the puppy and I asked where he was and they told me that he ran away. They ended up putting him down and didn't tell until one year later. When they told me that he ran away I cried so much.

when I was about 6 years old my parents got me a baby turtle, I was so excited to have it as my pet, I remember I named it Peter. Back then I wasn't so sure that animals were able to get sick, but turns out Peter was sick. He never wanted to eat. One day I came back home from school and Peter was not in his tank, I asked my mom what had happened to Peter and she told me that he would be gone for a few days and he would come back. Turns out "Peter" did come back and for my whole childhood I believed that my turtle was Peter. Now that I am older and look back at it, I know my mom just got me a new turtle.

When i was in the 5th grade i went to a water park for a school feildtrip and nearly drowned. I don't remember the exact date since i was more focused on the trip, and that it was my first time going to a water park. I remember getting there and because i didnt know how to swim i was nervous but im really stubborn ,so that didn't stop me. I remember that i went into the largest pool which again im really stubborn so if you bothered to read up to this point your probably thinking i had it comming and i would agree with you. Although i was doing ok at first, I slipped at one point and went under now i may have left out the fact that threre were no life guards but I'm telling you now that we're no lifeguards around. At this point I was underwater however Strangely I was really calm,i knew i was drowning however it didn't bug me in the least, I was able to float up to the surface and to this day I don't know if anyone even noticed I was drowning. Looking back at that I know I messed up but it was still a fun ,i went back in the pool after recovering as i have already told you im very stubborn. Now that i went over that story again i realize that to this day i am still stubborn.

When I was 8 I remember taking ski classes. It was at Mammoth mountain and I remember it being one of the most challenging moments of my life. I had to learn the pizza position which put a huge load on my back. It was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever exprienced. Aside from that the weather was getting terrible I had to ski my way down in haste or I would get even colder. Needless to say I fell down a lot each time having my clothes fill up with more and more snow. In the end I made it but I vowed to never take that class again. Fast foward a couple years and I still take an annual trip to ski with my family. And while I still fall (it happens to everyone) I still enjoy skiing at a casual level.

When I was in elementary school everything was great from kindergarten too 4th grade. When 5th grade came along I wasn't really the type to work as hard as i would to before. Not sure what quite the deal was, maybe it was puberty, or just the way I thought of school as not important as much as I realized later on. During 5th grade of course I had friends but one day I'm not sure of what caused a conflict between one of the " cool kids " I was friends with but I know something happened and he hated my guts, now looking back it maybe had to do with a girl, anyways he and his other friends who I saw as mine bullied me, harassed me, you name it. During that time I was quite sad of course, it was funny looking back because I would hang out with a girl group during that time, which lead to them calling me names and such. It was this one day where the kid I had the conflict with to begin with came up to me and said something about my mom, during that I thought to myself did he really just say that, not thinking I right hooked him and he fell like spaghetti. After that the teacher found out of course and he managed to find all the kids involved and had all of us stay after school. He lectured us and before you know it we were all friends again, thinking of it now is quite funny knowing how little and I thoughtless we were.

When I was 9-10 I sliced my achillies tendon. It got cut from glass in my home in graham, wa. I remember going to take a step down and my foot went parallel with my leg and I dropped to the ground and freaked out. My family was there and my step dad came to the rescue. Now i look back at it and think how awful it was having to relearn how to walk with the foot and how now I look at people and understand how much work and how it sucks and I feel their pain and effort.

Once when I was at a friends house we where home alone and we heard a knock on the door we hid in the room because we where only 7. His mom went out for 10 mins. They kept on ringing the doorbell so we decided to grab a bag and get ready. Turns out it was his mom with some pizza we scared her so bad that she dropped it. We got in trouble but she didn’t care because we where smart to not open it and arm ourselves.

When I was 12 my dog died. I remember her being very sick because she was 17 and that’s very old for a dog to live. She was very playful and full of life for a old sick dog. Once her age started catching up with her she started having seizures and her back legs weren’t working properly so we had to help her walk. It hurt me to see her in so much pain because she fought through it for so long, but once she gave me the look I knew it was time to let her go no matter how much I wanted her I stay. So we took her to the vet to put her down. I sat in the room with her while she took her last breath and that day still upsets me.

When i was about 8 years old i was out with my cousins in a field behind the house of our grandmas. It was me, my cousin Carolina, and my cousin Luis, we were playing tag and all these other games. We didn’t know it was private property so we just stayed and played till this one time the cops pulled up. Now where I lived, cops weren’t all that great, They were always so rude and racist. My dad and family told me to stay away from them and all these other things. When we saw them my heart dropped i was so scared and my cousins were too. I told them let’s go and hide, so we ran towards the back and hid them I heard them getting closer so we went around this shed and we went under the fence. We ran back inside the house and we were sooo scared we were going to get into a lot of trouble.

I was a pretty young age, I think maybe 6. It was a few days before Christmas. My mom worked very hard to hide the Christmas presents, but didn’t really think hard about where she put the presents. She decided to put them on the top bunk of my sisters bed. I the lovely curious self I was found these presents. Not thinking about it, I opened every single one of these gifts. There was kinetic sand kits, dolls and other toys and makeup sets. I managed to play with all of them and leave the room without anyone noticing. A few hours later my mom saw the mess I left. Wrapping paper scattered everywhere, toys unboxed and unpackaged. She was devastated and immediately knew I was the one who did the act because I was the only one stupid enough to do this. I never got into any trouble for it but now that I look back on it I feel a lot of guilt. My mom worked hard on those gifts and we couldn’t provide any gifts for our family member. Although, I did enjoy opening those presents.

When I was little, everything was pure chaotic at times. It felt horrible, everyone fought for the higher ground just to get above and prove themselves. At least that’s what it felt like at the age of 9, A lot of things happened that left scars either mentally or physically. Nothing serious happened. Just fighting a lot. At least now it felt lighter, everyone talked it out like actually human beings. Just sometimes you don’t need knives to stab and fight to prove yourself. Maybe it can be a simple talk. I don’t know where I’m going with This.

In elementary I was in fifth grade. And I had a crush on two boys who both name were Sebastian. Ironic right? And during the whole time I liked both of them. And then there was this girl in my class. She was one of those kids that was a goody to shoes and wrote really nice. And I was in the bathroom washing my hands and this girl friend kept making fun of her because she had a big butt. She she them turns to me and says “huh she has a big butt” and then the gurl turn around to show me. So I’m in a situation where I was like to I say something nice? I mean she kinda does have a big butt. So I say “um no it looks fine” the girl then looks at her friend and said “see! I told you!” Afterwards I gave up on those boys. And let’s just say I’m not straight anymore...
